Golf – Use a lower loft on my driver?

Question: Golf – Use a lower loft on my driver?
Hello,

I am an avid golfer and currently play to a 12 handicap.

I have been using a Taylor Made r5 driver, reg flex with a 10.5 loft. I am very comfortable with the driver and strike the ball very straight (hit about 70% of fairways). The problem is, the trajectory of my ball resembles a shot with a 7-iron (up high then straight down) as opposed to low and long. I hit the ball between 245-255 yards off the tee, however I know that because of my high ball flight, I am leaving yards on the table.

My question is this: How much of a difference could I see by changing to a lower degree in loft? Instead of buying a new driver, could I have the club “bent to” a lower degree?

Thank you in advance for your time.

-Chris

Bending is not the answer. I had the same problem ( 11 Handicaper ) and paid 400 big one for a 9 degree loft. It didn’t help much. I went on and took a few lessons and found that I was hitting the driver on my up-swing. As soon as I learned to hit the ball on the downswing or at the center of the downswing, I gained about 25 yards.
