How to go about getting stolen DJ equipment back?

Question: How to go about getting stolen DJ equipment back?
I left my DJ equipment in my apartment and I think one of roommates stole it because I came back to the apartment after being gone for a week and found that my DJ equipment was missing. I have 3 other roommates. I had asked my 3 roommates if they had seen it. one of the roommates informed me and my other 2 roommates that the apartment had gotten robbed and that the ONLY thing stolen that he KNEW of was his “golf clubs.” the xbox nor tv nor anything from anybody’s room was stolen. just his golf clubs. He said he filed a police report because one of his “frat” buddies worked for the police station. The next day I went to the police station and found out that he didnt file a police report and that his buddy didn’t work for the police department. I filed my own police report and an officer has spoken with this individual that I suspect stole my stuff.

However, I can’t prove that he stole the equipment, other than the fact that he is lying and his story is shady. Does anybody have any idea what steps I can take legally, preferably, to find my DJ equipment. My DJ equipment cost a little over $ 3000 so I want to do everything I can to get them back.
